Course Description
Protection from Sun Exposure
This 1-Hour Protection from Sun Exposure (SST-108) course is designed for construction workers in New York City. This course provides instruction on how to identify and prevent heat-related illnesses on the workplace. Successful completion of this course counts toward the Site Safety Training (SST) card.
Learning Outcomes
Trainees will become generally familiar with the effects of over exposure to heat and sunlight.
Trainees will learn how ultraviolet (UV) rays change the structure of skin cells and how increased and unprotected exposure can lead to skin cancer.
Trainees will learn how to protect and minimize exposure to excessive sunlight.
NYC DOB SST Requirement
According to NYC Department of Buildings Local Law 196, construction workers must complete training in order to earn their Site Safety Training card. This course counts toward one hour of the required training hours.
